"This is Earth and Sky for Thursday, October 26, 1995.
We talk about some microorganisms that required scientists to consider a new branch on the tree of life, a new form of life. They were named Archæa”.

When we gathered in 1996, Archaea, the beautiful name of a new form of microorganism recently discovered by scientists, seemed to us a perfect name for a string ensemble whose aim was to develop an original musical project. Our ensemble is formed by classic musicians that also love to wonder and experiment in the field of jazz, pop, traditional and avantgard music.

Our repertoire now ranges from Jarret, Nyman, Glass, Hendrix, Zappa to works by Piazzolla, Bartok, Rota. In addition, works by contemporary authors written for Archea and original works by members of the ensemble.

At present we are collaborating with the jazz players Stefano Bollani, Simone Santini, Stefano Rapicavoli, with the yiddish singer Faye Nepon and with the diatonic accordeon player Riccardo Tesi.

Recording activity includes collaboration with Hector Zazou, Harmonia Ensemble, Tosca, Cesare Cremonini.
